SANCHO SET FOR UNITED RECALL

Summer signing Jadon Sancho is expected to return to the Manchester United squad for their trip to face Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday evening. The Ex-Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund winger was one of several first team players who were rested for the dead rubber clash with Young Boys of Switzerland in the Champions League this week.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick decided to rest the players who were involved in the last Premier League game against South Londoners Crystal Palace for the Young Boys encounter at Old Trafford and Jadon Sancho was one of those rested by the German.

Rangnick opted to use fringe players, young players and those coming back from injury for the Young Boys duel which ended in a 1-1 draw after the ninth minute opener from Mason Greenwood was cancelled out by Fabian Riedel three minutes before the end of the first half. The game was more significant for Young Boys as the Swiss champions needed to win to have a chance of remaining in European football this season. In the end, they tried to go for a second goal but could not score the chances that came their way as the two teams settled for a score draw.

The Young Boys game was the second one managed by German tactician Rangnick on the back of his debut as a Manchester United manager against London team Crystal Palace. He was able to celebrate a win on the occasion of his first Manchester United manager thanks to the long range effort from Brazilian national team player Fred. The attacking quartet of Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford were not at their best against the Eagles and the Red Devils had to rely on the much maligned Fred to secure the three points on offer.
