DORTMUND HOLD OUT FOR £60 MILLION

German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund want £60 million for 28-year old Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports. Arsenal are keen on signing the player to boost their goalscoring chances after releasing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United and Theo Walcott to Everton FC.

The embattled Gabon international is also very open to leaving Germany for England. Arsenal submitted a bid of £50 million but Dortmund rejected it. Having not made headway with the striker, they are willing to listen to offers but only from £60 million.

“Either our demands are fulfilled, then there can be another transfer, or they will not be fulfilled and Aubameyang will play in Dortmund until the summer. By the way, this has also been discussed with and accepted by the Aubameyang family,” the sporting director of the club Michael Zorc said.

Zorc confirmed that the German club has rejected several offers from Arsenal so far. They expect the Premier League side to up their offer in order to get their target this January, with Arsenal Fc fans eager to see Aubameyang playing in their colours at the Emirates.

Aubameyang was dropped from the team due to disciplinary issues. Plus the winter break, he has not played for the club since December 16. He featured for the first time since then in the 2-2 draw against Freiburg on Saturday.

There were reports that Dortmund wanted Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud on loan as part of the deal. However, the club has come out to deny that the Frenchman was leaving the club as part of the deal. The club declined to comment further on the issue.

Arsenal are desperate for a top attacking option to help them through the second half of the season. They are in the Europa League and are fighting to make the top four in the league. They are out of the FA Cup, which they have been winning of recent, but they are set for the final of the Carabao EFL Cup against Manchester City in February.
