Ranieri is certain that next season will be even harder

Leicester City’s historic Premier League winning season is something that took everyone by surprise. Even the own supporters and players of the club weren’t expecting to rise above every other club in the English League and become the new champions of England but it happened.

Claudio Ranieri was one of the main figures behind this extraordinary season and the Italian coach himself has stated it still baffles him as to how exactly his team was able to overcome everything in their path and win their first Premier League title in the history of the club.

When the 64 year old coach was asked about his thoughts of the previous season as well as the upcoming one, the Italian manager replied by saying:

“At the beginning our goal was to be safe. Slowly, the team got confidence, it was a very, very amazing performance, match by match, day by day, they work so hard and we improved a lot…

I think one of our keys was to be consistent during all the season. Believe in yourself without thinking winning, losing, drawing, it wasn’t important. It was important to fight every match.”

Manchester United and Chelsea are the only clubs in the history of the Premier League that have been able to successively win the top tier English League. Continue reading Ranieri is certain that next season will be even harder

Barcelona interested in Mesut Ozil

Barcelona might be interested in signing Mesut Ozil in the summer with the Spanish club preparing a player and money deal. There is a special clause in Ozil contract that specifies that Real Madrid has the first refusal in case he is sold to a rival Spanish club. So as to circumvent this clause, Barcelona will try to offer players in exchange of Ozil.

The three players that will be offered to Arsenal are ArdaTuran, Sandro Ramirez and Munir El Haddadi and in fairness will not be a big upgrade on players Arsenal currently has. If ever, Ozil is going to be sold it is likely that Wenger will be interested in a transfer fee above the £42.5million that Arsenal paid to Real Madrid in 2013.

Mesut Ozil has made 110 appearances so far for the Gunners and has scored 19 goals. However, Ozil should not be judged by the number of goals he scored but rather on the number of assists, and chances created. And it is this creativity that Barcelona will want to bring to the Nou Camp. And with players such as Messi, Suarez and Neymar up front, a team consisting of Ozil behind these forwards can be difficult to stop.

Jack Wilshere’s future is edged towards Manchester City and Arsenal

One of the top summer targets of Manchester City is Paul Pogba of Juventus but trying to sign the French player is very difficult as he is also being targeted by a number of top European clubs including: Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Taking into consideration just how complicated it will be to sign Paul Pogba, Manchester City are already searching for a backup option and one of these backup’s is Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

Manchester City are believed to be preparing an offer of around €40 million in order to tempt Arsenal in selling Wilshere but the English player might be out of the reach of Manchester City as well because Arsene Wenger is not interested in releasing one of his most promising young figures.

The French manager Arsene Wenger is viewing Jack Wilshere as the future of Arsenal’s central midfield and will attempt to secure his services for as long as possible. Even at his young age, Wilshere is already one of the candidates of becoming the captain of Arsenal in the near future.

Jack Wilshere currently has a contract with Arsenal which extends until 2018 and he is earning €60,0000 but a pay raise is expecting to be given to him within the next few weeks as a way to motivate Wilshere to keep on playing at the Emirates Stadium and not have any interest of joining any other clubs despite how tempting their offers might be. Mame Biram Diouf says that he is extremely grateful to manager

Stoke City striker Mame Biram Diouf says that he is extremely grateful to manager Mark Hughes for giving him the opportunity to impress at the Premier League club.

After struggling with the likes of Manchester United and Blackburn in his two years in English football, it appeared to be certain that Diouf would be written off as a massive flop. This, however, has changed after just 12 months at the Britannia stadium. Stoke took the gamble on the former Hannover 96 player and it has paid off with a return of 13 goals in all competitions last season.

Some of his goals were also extremely important and the Senegalese striker looks set to remain as a key part of the club’s play going into the new campaign. Since he is just 27 years of age, he can prove to be the perfect replacement for Peter Crouch. The former Liverpool and Tottenham forward is coming to the end of his career. Stoke have already been looking at a couple of forwards in order to act as the backup for Diouf. The African forward did not have a happy time in German football too after scoring just eight goals for Hannover. Continue reading Mame Biram Diouf says that he is extremely grateful to manager

Mesut Ozil may look to demand a transfer away from Arsenal

After being heavily criticised towards the end of last season, it was feared that Mesut Ozil may look to demand a transfer away from Arsenal.

He did not appear well-suited to the rigours of English football where players now not even get to enjoy a winter break. In the last few months, though, there have been signs that Ozil may start to recapture his old form. This was finally evident in the 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool during the weekend when the German midfielder scored one of the goals from a freekick. After the match, he stated that he is starting to enjoy English football where games come thick and fast.

Last season, Ozil was visibly tired in the second half and this forced manager Arsene Wenger to rest him even from high-profile matches in the Champions League. After almost 2 years in the Premier League, it appears that the 27-year-old is starting to get used to a regular run of matches without rest. Signed from Real Madrid for £42.5 million, Ozil is the club’s record signing and it was expected that the team would be built around him. The German is showing finally that he is capable of being the main man in a team unlike at Real Madrid. Continue reading Mesut Ozil may look to demand a transfer away from Arsenal
