Good News For United As Dortmund Drop Player’s Asking Price

The reports making the rounds in the German media currently all point to the fact that Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have finally dropped the asking price for star forward Jadon Sancho, making it easier for long-term admirers Manchester United to sign him in the summer. United came so close to signing the England international winger last summer but were unable to do so after Dortmund adamantly refused to drop their £120 million asking price for their prized asset.

Although there was little or no noise about any transfer saga featuring United, Sancho, and Dortmund in January, it was a dragged saga and lasted for the entire summer. Red Devils director Ed Woodward tabled up to three offers for Sancho in the summer but none of them met the asking price of Dortmund so no deal was agreed and the player stayed out in Germany as a result.

Diallo’s Signing May Halt Jadon Sancho Chase

Last summer, Manchester United were told by the club’s manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s English star Jadon Sancho. Solksjær demanded the completion of the transfer in a bid to continue his rebuild at the club as they continued to have a go at winning the Premier League title since they last inched it back in 2013.

The board, however, failed to secure the signing after the Bundesliga giants insisted that they were not going to down their asking price of €120 million – a fee United were adamantly reluctant to pay. United director Ed Woodward suggested that it was not a wise decision to pay such a huge sum of money on a player who may not hit the ground running immediately after his arrival. Berbatov urges Jadon Sancho to stay put at Borussia Dortmund

Manchester United favourite Dimitar Berbatov believes Jadon Sancho should decline a move to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens this summer. The England international has been in superb form for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this term where he has amassed 14 goals and 15 assists.

His progress has caught the eye of several elite European clubs but United have been touted as the favourites to sign him in a potential club-record deal.
